Profile
Marketing assistant with two years supporting a six-person team at an independent insurance group, working across email, the website and event collateral. Hold marketing contributor access in HubSpot, where I build and schedule campaigns for a manager to approve, and editor access in WordPress for landing pages and blog posts. Run the request intake form and the weekly brief triage, so nothing reaches a designer without an audience, an offer and a deadline attached. Summary
A marketing associate resume is a one page document naming the tools you can run without a senior redoing the work, the access level you held in each, and the intake to delivery workflow you ran. This guide gives you three adaptable versions, the stack block that answers the only question a hiring manager has, and current Bureau of Labor Statistics pay and outlook.
Marketing Associate resume examples by experience level
A marketing associate resume is a one page document naming the tools you can run without supervision, the level of access you held in each, and the workflow that carried a request from someone asking for it to a report on what it did.
That is the only question a hiring manager has at this level, and they never ask it in those words. What they ask themselves, reading your file, is simpler: what can I hand this person on Monday that a senior will not have to redo on Friday?
Resume guide for a marketing associate resume
This guide and the corresponding marketing associate resume example will cover:
- How to write a marketing associate resume, section by section
- Why your access level in each tool matters more than the tool's name
- Three adaptable summaries: assistant, associate and senior associate
- The request to delivery workflow, and how to write it as evidence
- What the job market looks like and what you can expect to earn
How to write a marketing associate resume
Six blocks: contact header, summary, stack and access, experience, skills, and education with certifications. One page. This is an early career role, and a two page file at this level reads as padding.
The stack block goes directly under the summary because it is what converts a general claim into a scoped one. Everyone applying has used an email platform. The question is whether they built and sent, or drafted and waited.
| Section | What it is answering | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Stack and access | What can this person run on Monday without help? | Directly under the summary |
| Experience | What did they actually ship, at what volume, to what deadline? | Reverse chronological, numbers in the bullets |
| Workflow | Do they know how work gets requested, briefed, reviewed and reported? | Inside the experience bullets or its own short block |
| Education and certifications | Degree, plus vendor certifications as supporting evidence | Bottom, short |
Write the access level, not just the tool name
Every marketing associate resume lists the same tools. Almost none of them says what the candidate could actually do inside those tools, which is where the whole difference sits.
"HubSpot" could mean you were a super admin who built, tested, segmented and sent campaigns with nobody else touching the send. It could mean you had contributor access and drafted emails for a manager to approve. It could mean you logged in to read a dashboard.
Those are three different hires. Write the one that is true: "Super admin in HubSpot Marketing Hub, including list segmentation, suppression and send." A hiring manager can staff that sentence immediately.
Run the finished file through the free Rezoom ATS resume checker before you send it. Marketing roles at this level attract very high application volumes and are almost always parsed first.
Choosing the best resume format for a marketing associate resume
Reverse chronological, single column, one page. Put the stack and access block high, because a recruiter scanning for a specific platform will not find it at the bottom of page one.
Skip the functional format even if your experience is thin. At this level the reader wants the sequence: internship, first role, what you took on next. A functional layout removes exactly the thing that shows you are ready for more responsibility.

The second line in the right column is doing something unusual. It states two access levels in six words, and it does it above the fold, where a recruiter searching a stack of applications for someone who can run the email platform will actually see it.
Make use of a summary
Four lines: what you run without supervision, your access level in the two or three tools that matter, your volume, and one process you own or improved.

Hold marketing contributor access in HubSpot, where I build and schedule campaigns for a manager to approve, and editor access in WordPress for landing pages and blog posts. Marketing associate for a 140-person logistics software company, running the email program, the blog and the customer webinar series without day-to-day supervision. Super admin in HubSpot Marketing Hub: build, test, send and report on 8 to 10 campaigns a month, including list segmentation and suppression, with no second pair of hands on the send. Editor in Google Analytics 4 and Looker Studio, where I built the six dashboards the sales and product teams plan from. Own the intake to delivery workflow for 30 to 40 marketing requests a quarter, from brief through review to published asset and report.
Senior marketing associate running the request queue for a 140-person software company, with full administrative access across HubSpot Marketing Hub, Google Analytics 4, Google Ads and a four-site WordPress estate. Ship 8 to 10 campaigns a month and 30 to 40 quarterly requests end to end, and set the intake standard that turned a verbal request culture into a briefed one, so every request now carries an audience, an offer, a deadline and a success measure before work starts. Trained four colleagues onto the stack and wrote the permission model that separates build access from send approval. Hold Google Analytics and HubSpot Marketing Hub Software certifications, which document access rather than replace shipped work.
Right vs wrong: the same marketing associate summary, twice
| ✅ Right | ❌ Wrong |
|---|---|
| Super admin in HubSpot Marketing Hub: build, test, segment and send, with no second pair of hands on the send. | Experienced with email marketing platforms including HubSpot. |
| Editor in Google Analytics 4 and Looker Studio; built the six dashboards sales and product plan from. | Familiar with analytics and reporting tools. |
| Own the intake to delivery workflow for 30 to 40 marketing requests a quarter. | Assisted the marketing team with a variety of projects. |
The right column tells a manager exactly what they can stop doing themselves once you start. The left column describes several hundred applicants for the same post.
Outline your experience
Employer, what it sells, team size, your scope in one clause, then dates. Three to five bullets, each carrying a volume, a deadline or a named system.
| Instead of | Use |
|---|---|
| Assisted with email marketing campaigns | Built, tested and sent 8 to 10 HubSpot campaigns a month as super admin, including segmentation and suppression lists |
| Updated the company website | Published 34 landing pages and 61 blog posts as a WordPress editor across four sites, to a same-week turnaround |
| Helped with reporting | Built six Looker Studio dashboards on GA4 data, now the standing source for the sales and product weekly |
| Supported various marketing projects | Ran 30 to 40 marketing requests a quarter from intake through brief, review, publish and report |
| Worked with external vendors | Briefed and reviewed a design freelancer and a video editor against a written brief and a fixed delivery date |
Marketing Associate, Palmetto Ridge Software, Tampa, FL, June 2023 to Present
Logistics software company, 140 staff, four-person marketing team reporting to the marketing manager. Own the email program, the blog and the customer webinar series.
Super admin in HubSpot Marketing Hub. Build, test, segment and send 8 to 10 campaigns a month with no second approver on the send, and write the post-send report in the same week.
Publish to four WordPress sites as an editor: 34 landing pages and 61 blog posts in the last twelve months, to a same-week turnaround from approved copy.
Built the six Looker Studio dashboards on GA4 data that the sales and product teams now use as the standing source in their weekly meeting.
Run the intake to delivery workflow for 30 to 40 requests a quarter, from the intake form through brief, draft, review, publish and report, and chase the approvals myself rather than routing them up.
Name your stack, and your permission level in each tool
This is the block that makes an associate resume hireable, and it takes six lines.
A tool name on its own is not a claim. Access level is. Write each tool with the level of permission and autonomy you actually held, in the platform's own vocabulary where there is one.
| Tool | Weak version | The version that gets you hired |
|---|---|---|
| Email platform | Experienced with HubSpot | Super admin in HubSpot Marketing Hub: list segmentation, suppression, A/B test setup, send, post-send report |
| Analytics | Proficient in Google Analytics | Editor in Google Analytics 4: event and conversion setup, audience building, six Looker Studio dashboards built |
| Website | Updated the website | WordPress editor across four sites, publishing without a developer; no plugin or theme access |
| Paid media | Ran Google Ads | Standard access in Google Ads: built and edited search campaigns under a monthly budget cap set by the manager |
| Project tracking | Used Asana | Project owner in Asana: built the intake form, the request queue and the recurring campaign template |
| Content calendar | Helped with the content calendar | Owned the quarterly content calendar; scheduled, published and reported, and held the final go or no-go |
Two rules make this honest and useful at the same time.
Say where the ceiling was. "WordPress editor, no plugin or theme access" is a stronger line than "WordPress", not a weaker one, because it tells a reader you know the difference and that everything you claimed below it is accurate. Overstating access is caught in the first week, when you cannot do the thing.
Separate building from approving. Plenty of associates build the whole campaign and a manager clicks send. That is still yours to claim, but claim it correctly: "build and schedule for manager approval" versus "build and send". Hiring managers at the next level up read that distinction instantly, because it is the exact permission they are deciding whether to give you.
Email and automation: HubSpot Marketing Hub, super admin. List segmentation and suppression, A/B test setup, workflow automation, send and post-send reporting.
Analytics and reporting: Google Analytics 4, editor. Event and conversion configuration, audience building. Looker Studio, owner of six dashboards. Excel to intermediate level, including pivot tables.
Web: WordPress, editor across four sites. Publish pages and posts without developer involvement; no plugin, theme or hosting access.
Paid media: Google Ads, standard access. Build and edit search campaigns under a monthly budget cap set by the marketing manager. Paid social briefed to an agency.
Project and workflow: Asana, project owner. Built the marketing intake form, the request queue and the recurring campaign template. Slack and Google Workspace.
Design and content: Canva at editor level and Figma as a viewer and commenter, working from a brand system a designer owns. Basic short-form video editing.
Write the request to delivery workflow you actually run
The second thing hiring managers want to know is whether you understand how marketing work arrives, which at associate level is most of the job.
Requests come from everywhere: sales wants a one-pager, product wants a launch email, the founder wants a webinar, a partner wants co-branded collateral. The associate is where all of that lands. What separates a strong one is not creative flair but an intake that stops bad requests turning into wasted work.
| Stage | What you do | What to write on the resume |
|---|---|---|
| Intake | A form or a standing channel, with required fields | The form you built and what it requires |
| Brief | Audience, offer, format, deadline, success measure | That no work starts without a brief, and who signs it |
| Draft | Copy, design, build, in the tools you have access to | What you build yourself and what you brief out |
| Review | Who reviews what, and by when | The review path and how you chase it |
| Publish | Schedule, send, go live | Volume and turnaround time |
| Report | What it did, in the same place every time | The report format and who reads it |
Write it in two or three bullets rather than as a diagram. "Every request now carries an audience, an offer, a deadline and a success measure before work starts, which ended the pattern of design work being commissioned twice" is a sentence about process improvement that most associates could truthfully write and almost none do.
Name each tool with the permission level you held in it. Say where your access stopped. Separate building a campaign from being the person who sends it. Give volume with a period attached: campaigns a month, requests a quarter, pages published in a year. Describe the intake and review path you worked inside, and any part of it you built.
Do not list a tool you have only watched someone else use. Do not write "proficient in" a platform without saying what you did in it. Do not let vendor certifications stand in for shipped work. Do not pad to two pages. Do not claim ownership of results that belong to a team without saying what your part was.
Build a snapshot of your key skills
Ten to fourteen entries in three groups, kept separate from the stack block so the two do not read as the same list twice.
Execution: Email campaign build and send, Landing page build and publishing, Webinar production and follow-up, Content calendar ownership, Campaign QA and testing
Analysis and reporting: GA4 event and conversion setup, Looker Studio dashboard build, Campaign performance reporting, List hygiene and database segmentation, Excel pivot tables
Working practice: Marketing request intake and triage, Brief writing, Freelancer and agency briefing, Stakeholder review and approval chasing, Copy editing to a style guide
List your education and certifications
Degree, then certifications with the issuing body and the year. The BLS notes that certification in this occupation is voluntary and demonstrates a level of professional competency (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, accessed September 2026), which is exactly how to treat it: supporting evidence for an access claim, never a substitute for work you have shipped.

Order them by what the posting asks for. If the role is email-led, the HubSpot certification goes first even though the analytics one is better known.
Choose the right layout and design
Single column, 11 or 12 point, plain headings, no photograph, no graphics, PDF unless the portal asks for Word. Keep the stack block as labeled plain lines so a parser reads each tool and each permission term as text.
One page. At this level a second page is read as an inability to prioritize, which is uncomfortably close to the thing being tested.
Marketing associate job market and outlook
Marketing associate roles sit inside the Bureau of Labor Statistics occupation market research analysts and marketing specialists, which is large, growing faster than most, and hiring at volume.
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Median annual wage, May 2025 | $78,760 |
| Lowest 10 percent | less than $43,390 |
| Highest 10 percent | more than $155,480 |
| Employment, 2025 | 952,700 |
| Projected change, 2025 to 2035 | 7 percent |
| Projected annual openings | about 82,000 |
| Typical entry-level education | Bachelor's degree |
Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook, May 2025 wage data and 2025 to 2035 projections.
82,000 openings a year, and a stack question in every one
Market research analysts and marketing specialists numbered 952,700 in 2025, with employment projected to change by 7 percent from 2025 to 2035, which the BLS describes as much faster than the average for all occupations, and about 82,000 openings projected each year on average (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2025 to 2035 projections).
The median annual wage was $78,760 in May 2025, with the lowest 10 percent under $43,390 and the highest 10 percent over $155,480 (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, May 2025).
An occupation with that many annual openings and a bachelor's degree as the typical entry requirement is an occupation where the degree does not differentiate anybody. What differentiates is the access question. Two candidates with the same degree, the same internship and the same list of tools are separated entirely by which of them can be handed the email platform on Monday.
Where the jobs sit, by employment share in 2025: management, scientific and technical consulting services 11 percent, finance and insurance 10 percent, information 9 percent, management of companies and enterprises 7 percent, and wholesale trade 7 percent (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2025).
What salary you can expect as a marketing associate
The median annual wage for market research analysts and marketing specialists was $78,760 in May 2025, with the lowest 10 percent earning less than $43,390 and the highest 10 percent more than $155,480 (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, May 2025). An associate in a first or second role sits toward the lower half of that range; the median reflects the whole occupation, specialists and analysts with a decade of experience included.
Industry is the biggest single lever, and it is a large one. For this occupation in May 2025, information paid a median of $102,670, management of companies and enterprises $99,850, and finance and insurance $94,330, against $78,780 in wholesale trade and $77,820 in management, scientific and technical consulting services (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, May 2025). The same associate work is paid differently depending on whose product it sells.
What moves you inside a band is access, and it is worth being deliberate about. Each level of permission you take on is a task a more expensive person stops doing: the send, the analytics configuration, the ad account, the publishing. Ask for them one at a time, document what you did with each, and the resume writes itself into the next salary band.
Key takeaways for a marketing associate resume
- Name every tool with the permission level you actually held in it.
- Say where your access stopped; the ceiling makes the rest of the claim credible.
- Separate building a campaign from being the person who sends it.
- Give volume with a period: campaigns a month, requests a quarter, pages a year.
- Write the intake to delivery workflow, and any part of it you built or fixed.
- Treat certifications as supporting evidence, since the BLS itself calls them voluntary.
- Keep it to one page, in a layout a parser can read cleanly.

Marketing associate resume questions, answered
How long should a marketing associate resume be?
One page. This is an early to mid career role and everything that decides it, the stack, the access levels, the volume and the workflow, fits comfortably. A second page at this level reads as padding rather than depth.
What is the difference between a marketing associate and a marketing coordinator?
The titles overlap heavily and vary by company, so do not try to resolve it on the resume. Resolve it with evidence: what you ran unsupervised, at what access level, and at what volume. Two people with the same title can hold completely different permissions, and the permissions are what is being bought.
Do marketing certifications actually help?
They help as supporting evidence and not much more. The BLS describes certification in this occupation as voluntary, demonstrating a level of professional competency (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, accessed September 2026). A HubSpot or Google certification next to a claim of super admin access corroborates it. The same certification with no shipped work behind it corroborates nothing.
What do I put on a marketing associate resume with no full-time experience?
Whatever you have had real access to. A student society's email list, a small business's website, a campus event you promoted and reported on, a freelance client. Write it the same way: the tool, your access level, what you published, how often, and what you measured. An applicant who has genuinely sent from a real email platform to a real list beats one with a longer internship and read-only access.
Should I list tools I have only used a little?
Only if you can say honestly what you did in them, and put them last. A list padded with names you cannot speak to is the most common way this resume fails at the screening call, because the interviewer's first question is almost always "walk me through how you set that up".
How do I show results when the campaign was a team effort?
Name your part precisely and let the result stand next to it. "Built and sent the six-email sequence for the launch; the launch brought 340 registrations against a target of 250" is honest and still credits you with the work you did. Claiming the whole outcome is both risky and unnecessary, since at this level nobody expects an associate to have owned the strategy.
