Give the caseload a denominator and a date
"Managed a large caseload" is the most common sentence in this occupation and the least useful. It is also unverifiable, which means a careful reader discounts it entirely.
Write it as a measurement: "Active caseload of 24 households against a program standard of 1 to 25, as of September 2026." Three facts in one line: the number, the ratio the program is designed around, and the point in time it was true.
If your caseload moved, give both ends and the reason. "Panel grew from 18 to 31 households over 14 months as the program absorbed a closed site, with 12-month housing retention held at 88 percent" is a stronger sentence than either number alone, because it shows the volume and the quality survived at once.
Run the finished file through the ATS resume checker before you submit it. For instance, community agencies, health plans and county departments nearly all parse applications into a structured record first.
Choosing the best resume format for a case manager resume
Reverse chronological, one page until you supervise. In short, case management hiring is volume hiring, and the reader is comparing panels, models and systems across a stack of files.

These three facts, in this order, are what a case management hiring decision is actually made on. In short, everything else on the page is supporting evidence.
First, the caseload, and say which one you mean. Three different numbers get called a caseload, and applicants swap between them without noticing:
- Active caseload. Open cases assigned to you at a point in time. Therefore, this is the number the reader wants, and it is the number to lead with.
- Annual served. Unique clients or households you worked with across twelve months. As a result, always larger, and useful as a second figure.
- Assigned panel. Names on a list, including inactive and unreachable cases. The weakest of the three, and the one that looks inflated if you give it without a label.
Therefore, give the active caseload first, with the program's designed ratio beside it, then annual served as context. "Active caseload of 24 households against a 1 to 25 standard; 61 households served across the program year" is a complete answer.
Why the case management model matters
Second, the model, because a caseload number means nothing without it. A panel of 22 and a panel of 110 can both be entirely reasonable, and a reader who does not know which model you worked in cannot tell whether your number is impressive or alarming.
