An Uber driver resume is a one to two page document that turns platform driving into a record a hiring manager can check: how long you drove, how many trips you completed, how you behaved on the ones you took, and what screening you have already cleared.

How to write an Uber driver resume

Overall, it takes six sections: contact header, summary, driving record, experience, licenses and screening, and skills. One page unless you have fleet, dispatch or medical transport scope, in which case two.

Notably, the driving record gets its own block, above experience. That is the whole argument of this page. That is because a shuttle, courier or fleet employer is not screening for charm; they are screening for a person who shows up, finishes the job, does not cancel, and passes a background check without a surprise.

Choosing the best resume format for an Uber driver resume

Reverse chronological, single column, one page. Two only if you have added dispatch, fleet or medical transport responsibility.

Do not use a functional format, even though the temptation is real when platform driving overlapped with other work. Also, overlapping dates are normal for drivers and employers know it. What they will not forgive is a timeline they cannot follow, because continuity behind the wheel is the thing being checked.

Include your contact information

The second line changes outcomes. "Uber Driver" tells a hiring manager nothing about scale. "5 years, 11,400 trips" tells them you have done more road miles than most of their current staff.

Make use of a summary

In the summary, write four lines: what you drive and for how long, the volume, the behavior record, and one thing you did beyond the trip.

Outline your driving experience

Employer or business line, city, dates, and what the work actually was. Then three to five bullets, each carrying a number: trips, miles, hours, stops, on-time rate, incidents.

The record the platform keeps for you, and how to put it on a resume

In fact, here is the thing almost no platform driver realizes. For example, ordinary jobs leave behind a reference and a date range. By contrast, platform driving leaves behind an unusually complete, dated, verifiable record of how you worked, and almost nobody puts any of it on a page.

What shuttle and fleet managers read

Shuttle, courier, fleet and medical transport managers read exactly those things. They are predicting whether you will show up, finish the run, and not cost them an insurance claim. The platform already measured all three.

Four rules for your Uber driver numbers

Four rules for writing those numbers, and they matter more than the numbers themselves.

First, only write a figure you can produce. After all, if a hiring manager asks for a screenshot of your rating or a copy of last year's tax summary and you cannot produce it, the entire resume is now in doubt, not just that line. In practice, open the app and the earnings hub, find the figure, and write what is there.

Second, if a figure is not available to you, write the one that is. However, not every account surfaces a lifetime trip count in a form you can read off. If yours does not, do not guess. Instead, use what you can evidence: months active, miles from your annual tax summary, quarterly periods holding a loyalty tier, or trips completed in a single documented year. "Roughly 2,300 trips in 2025, per my annual summary" beats a lifetime number you invented.

Third, round honestly and say you are rounding. "Roughly 11,400 trips" is fine. "11,427 trips" invites someone to check a number you may not be able to reproduce exactly, and the precision buys you nothing.

Fourth, name the platform once and then describe the work generically. You are applying to a courier company, not to Uber. Then, after the first mention, write "platform driving" or "app-dispatched trips".

Build a snapshot of your key skills

For skills, list ten to twelve entries in three groups: the vehicle, the route, and the people and paperwork.

List your education, licenses and endorsements

License first with the class and state, then endorsements, then screening and inspection status, then training, then education last.

A note on the commercial license, because drivers ask. On licensing, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration states plainly that "FMCSA does not issue Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs)" and that "State governments are responsible for issuing CDLs", and that "special endorsements may be required" for driving "a passenger vehicle" among others (fmcsa.dot.gov, retrieved 17 September 2026). Separately, the federal Entry-Level Driver Training regulations "set the minimum Federal requirements for training that entry-level drivers must complete before being permitted to take certain CDL skills or knowledge tests", administered through the Training Provider Registry (tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov, retrieved 17 September 2026). For this reason, write your own state's class and endorsement exactly as your license reads, and name the registry-listed provider if you trained through one.

Choose the right layout and design

For layout, use a single column, 11 or 12 point, clear section headings, no photograph, no icons, no rating bars. That matters because fleet, courier and transport employers run high-volume applicant systems, and two-column templates are where those systems lose your license number.

Also, put the driving record block in plain text with the numbers on their own lines. In practice, a recruiter scanning forty driver files is looking for four things: years, volume, incidents, license class. So make all four findable in three seconds.

Uber driver job market and outlook

For context, platform driving sits inside an occupation BLS reports as taxi drivers, shuttle drivers and chauffeurs, and it is the lowest-paid of the driving occupations the Handbook publishes.

At the sector level, BLS reports that employment in transportation and material moving occupations is projected to grow about as fast as the average, with about 1.6 million openings projected each year on average over the decade (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, published 27 August 2026).

What salary you can expect as a rideshare driver

The median annual wage for taxi drivers, shuttle drivers and chauffeurs was $37,960 in May 2025 (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, Transportation and Material Moving Occupations, last modified 27 August 2026). That is the published figure for the occupation, and it is the honest one to plan against.

However, what it does not tell you is your own income from a platform, and nothing published can. That is because platform earnings depend on your city, your hours, the trip mix you accept, and your own costs for vehicle, fuel, insurance and maintenance. As a result, the only accurate figure for your own driving is in your annual tax summary and your 1099 forms, which is why those documents are worth keeping.

Meanwhile, the useful comparison is upward, and it is the point of writing this resume properly. For example, delivery truck drivers and driver/sales workers had a May 2025 median of $43,950, bus drivers $49,390, and heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers $58,640 (BLS, May 2025). In other words, those are wage jobs with a vehicle you do not own and fuel you do not buy. As a result, moving into one is a raise of $6,000 to $20,000 at the median, and the lever is not a new qualification. It is a resume showing five years of documented, screened, incident-free commercial-volume driving instead of two words.
