Ms. Adelina Moscone Designated Broker Catalina Foothills Group Tucson, United States

Application for Salesperson, Catalina Foothills Group

Dear Ms. Moscone,

I am applying for the salesperson position at Catalina Foothills Group. I hold an active Arizona salesperson license, number AZ-SA-742619, and have been a member of the Tucson Association of REALTORS, Arizona REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS since 2019, with participation in the association's multiple listing service since then.

The designation I would ask you to weigh is the Seniors Real Estate Specialist, because it changed what my business is rather than what my card says. Over three years it has built a downsizing practice: 14 transactions coordinated with estate attorneys, move managers and adult children acting under power of attorney, plus referral relationships with two elder law practices that now send me work directly. Last year that was roughly two-thirds of my $8.6M in closed volume across 22 sides. I also hold the Graduate, REALTOR Institute designation, which is why I teach the association's contract writing refresher twice a year.

Catalina Foothills Group lists heavily in Oro Valley and the foothills, where the owner age profile is older than the county average, and I did not see a designated specialist in that segment on your team page. That is the gap I would fill, and I would bring the two referral relationships with me.

My license is active and my Code of Ethics and fair housing training is complete for the 2025 to 2027 cycle. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely, Elias Quiroga, GRI, SRES

Summary

A realtor cover letter names your state license, your local association membership and the designations you actually practice, then shows what each one brings a brokerage in clients rather than in letters after your name. This guide gives you a full adaptable letter, the correct use of the membership mark, and the openings that get a file read.

Realtor cover letter examples by experience level

A realtor cover letter is a one-page letter naming your state license, your local association membership and the designations you actually practice, then saying what each brings a brokerage in clients rather than in letters after your name.

Credentials feel like the argument, but a designated broker has seen every designation in the catalog. What they want is which clients yours puts you in front of, and whether your obligations are current.

This page is an independent guide, not affiliated with or endorsed by the National Association of REALTORS. REALTOR is a registered collective membership mark owned by that association.

Expert Tip

Name the board, not just the national body

"I am a REALTOR" tells a designated broker almost nothing, because the term describes a membership rather than a practice.

"I have been a member of the Tucson Association of REALTORS, Arizona REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS since 2019" tells them the board, the length of your standing and the market you have worked. Membership in a local association automatically extends to the state and national associations, so the local board is the informative part (National Association of REALTORS).

The board is also where your ethics record and committee service live. A broker in the same market knows its hearing panels, and a candidate who has served on one is a known quantity in a way national membership never is.

Using the membership mark correctly, and what not to claim

A designated broker notices this immediately, because it is their trademark obligation too. REALTOR is a registered collective membership mark identifying a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS and subscribes to its Code of Ethics, and only members may use it (National Association of REALTORS, checked 12 September 2026). Three rules follow.

  • Use it about yourself only while membership is current. If it has lapsed, write "licensed salesperson" and drop the membership claim.
  • Do not use it as a generic word for a licensed agent.
  • Do not claim membership gives you access to a multiple listing service. Access is granted by the service. Many are association-owned, but the association's own policy handbook contemplates an open service with participants who hold no membership anywhere.

If your case is production rather than credentials, the real estate agent cover letter is written around a closed-sides ledger instead.

Making a designation earn its line

One designation, one paragraph, one client population. That is what separates a credential from an abbreviation.

DesignationThe sentence that makes it work
GRI, Graduate, REALTOR InstituteI teach the association's contract writing refresher, a direct result of the GRI coursework
ABR, Accredited Buyer's RepresentativeI write buyer agreements as a conversation, not a form; buyer-side conversion is 71 percent
SRS, Seller Representative SpecialistI took my listing share from 22 percent to 47 percent after the SRS coursework
SRES, Seniors Real Estate SpecialistTwo elder law practices now refer downsizing clients to me directly
Statistical insight

A wide membership, a narrow middle

The National Association of REALTORS reported 1,453,690 members as of 31 May 2025, across approximately 1,200 local associations and boards and 54 state and territory associations (June 2025). Its 2026 Member Profile, released 25 June 2026 and covering 2025, put members' median gross real estate income at $59,200 and median experience at 13 years, rising to $88,500 for members with 16 or more years.

Federal data covers the occupation rather than the membership: real estate brokers and sales agents held 530,600 jobs in 2025, with about 40,400 openings projected each year on average over the 2025 to 2035 decade (Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook).

So membership itself distinguishes nobody. What distinguishes you is what you have done inside it: the years, the board, the committee, the designation and the clients behind it.

Do

Give the license class, state and number in the first two sentences. Name the local association and the year you joined. Pick one designation and give it a client population, a referral source or a number. State your ethics and fair housing status with the cycle dates. Read their team page and name a real gap you would fill.

Iconly/Bold/Close Square Don’t

Do not use the membership mark as a synonym for agent, or about yourself if membership has lapsed. Do not claim membership gives you MLS access. Do not list four designations with nothing attached. Do not put a franchise logo on a personal letter. Do not name or describe an identifiable client, even in an estate context where the detail is tempting.

Length, format and sending it

One page, four paragraphs, 250 to 400 words. PDF unless the application says otherwise, named for yourself and the post: elias-quiroga-salesperson-cover-letter.pdf.

Address the designated broker by name. Brokerage leadership is public, and a generic salutation on a specific letter reads as a template.

Use the same figures as your resume. Our realtor resume example is written with the credentials and numbers used here.

Key takeaways

  1. Open with the license, then the local association and the year you joined.
  2. Use the membership mark only as a current member, never as a synonym for agent.
  3. Attach a client population or a referral source to one designation.
  4. Put the 2025 to 2027 ethics and fair housing status in the closing paragraph.
  5. Name the listing service and your role in it, not "MLS access".
  6. Name a real gap on their team page and say you would fill it.
  7. Address the designated broker by name and keep it to one page.

Realtor cover letter questions, answered

How long should a realtor cover letter be?

One page, four paragraphs, 250 to 400 words. A designated broker reads for license, membership standing and one specific thing you bring, and none of those needs a second page.

Should I list every designation I hold?

No. Name the one that describes your practice and attach a client population to it, then mention a second if it explains something concrete, such as teaching or a listing share. Four with nothing behind them reads as coursework.

Do I need to say I am a member if the brokerage is not affiliated?

Say it anyway, with the board and the year. It carries an ethics obligation and a training cycle a brokerage has to track, and a candidate current on both is one fewer administrative problem. Then say what it gives you in practice: committee service, or listing service participation.

What if my ethics training is not complete for the current cycle?

Say when you will complete it rather than omitting it. The current cycle runs from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027, and a date reads better than silence. Do not claim completion you cannot evidence; a broker can verify standing through the board.

Can I mention production in a credentials-led letter?

Yes, in one sentence tied to the credential. "The downsizing practice was roughly two-thirds of my $8.6M in closed volume across 22 sides" works because it proves the designation rather than replacing it. A full ledger belongs on the resume.
