Open with the caseload, not with why you became a counselor
Almost every letter in the folder begins with a version of the same origin story. It is sincere and it is invisible, because forty of them say it.
Open with scale instead: "I hold an Arizona School Counselor Certificate, PreK-12, and have carried an alphabetical caseload of 410 students at a comprehensive Title I high school for six years."
That sentence answers the two questions a principal has to settle before anything else. Can this person legally hold the post, and have they done it at my size. Only then does the reader have room to care why you chose the work.

Writing about students without identifying one
Report at the group level only: caseloads, cohorts, grade levels, completion rates, group counts. Describe your process in detail, since the process is what the reader is hiring. Name the protocol you followed for risk screening and referral rather than what happened in any one case. Use the three domains as your structure so the reader can see the whole role. Read the school's own improvement plan and name one real thing from it.
Never name, initial, or describe an individual student, and never include a detail specific enough that someone at your school would recognize the case. Do not tell a moving story about one student; it is the single most common confidentiality failure in these letters. Do not use clinical or diagnostic language you are not licensed for. Do not send a letter with no school name in it. Do not claim a grade band your certificate does not cover.
The ratio is the market, and it moves by state
